Disappointed at Atlas Control ToolKit
After all the hypes and fuz, I finally gave the control tool kit a try last night and I was disappointed right there.
I've been wanting to try out this model popup aka lightbox effect for a long time now and the issue is? I need it to be ajaxed. You heard me? Ajaxed. I've said again and again, the whole purpose of these tools is to provide an easy way for me to call my server side function. In case of model popup, when okay or cancel is clicked, it should be able to to hook up to a server side function and call it a day. Not so here.
Not only Atlas toolkit, I can say most of the so called AJAX UI Widget frameworks out there don't do diddly squat. They are still the old dhtml library and now want to call themsevles AJAX UIs. For example, I tried the Prototype model window library, thick lightbox library, even some dojo widgets, they all come back to me in one issue, they are simply dhtml widgets! Nothing more, nothing less!! Can't do anything other than showing some cool effects. I really don't want to pretend I'm ajaxing my app when it's really a dhtml app. We need to grow out of this.
Just frustrated at most of the UI libraries out there, all these experiments costed me a lot valuable times and I'm still empty handed!
