Windows Live Writer
Microsoft just released the WIndows Live Writer which can be downloaded here Basically, it's a desktop app where you can publish your blog and that's right, I'm writing this pos using Windows Live Writer.
I have to say this, I was never a fan of interacting desktop apps with web apps, however, as I blog more and more through web app, I do feel the pain of waiting for the page to refresh, navigate through the maze of pages before I can post and what not. A desktop app like Live Writer allows me to make a direct post and that is very sweet.
While installating, I noticed that for community server, there is a metablog api page (http://servername/blogs/metablog.ashx _That's webservices I'm guessing, wait, it's an httphandler.... VERY interesting. This just goes to show the userfulness of publish an API, give third party complete control over how to interact with your application.
In fact, in my secret project, I will plan for a desktop app as well for interacting with the web app. You have to try it to believe it.
I'll test out more and blog about LIVE Writer's feature in later posts, because blogging just got too easy :)
Peace out.
