Nemo? Hello?

Found out something really bizzard here.

Last night, my sql server database connection suddely got dropped. I have three machines on at all times here, one database server, one developer server and another file server. I was wondering could it be my router that's at fault here? Because after an electrictity shortage last time when I didn't hook up my backup battery, it never worked the same. I have reboot it every 8 hours or so.

So to debug this issue, i restarted the sql server, sometimes it worked, sometimes it didn't or quickly get dropped again. What's going on? okay, let me reboot the server machine altogether, that didn't help either.

At this point, I was really really confused. What in gods name is going on?

My database server is called "Nemo",  I wanted to see if I can ping it, what surprised me was that it returned an internet address. huh? My Nemo machine has an internal 172.16.*.* address, so why????

Guess what? My community hooked up our network in their "intranet" which uses a 172.16.*.* address, so every single computer in our community has an address like so as well!!! One of the WTF moment.

I don't know what the implication of this is, because I'm not an IT guy, so what I would
do for the minute is to change my interal ip addresses to 192.168.*.*. Extremely weird out.
