Plan for AjaxLab.com
Lately, I've been swamped via the capabilities of Atlas and how flexible it is. In addition to the serverside UpdatePanel which is mainly used to convert any existing asp.net application into ajax, the powerful client side scripting gave me insights and ideas into building more poweful ajax enabled applications.
My original plan for Ajaxlab.com was to install community server there and use it to blog about ajax news, tutorials and what not. Now I've changed my mind. I will eat my own dog food and build an ajax app from the scratch.
What will the app be? A blog engine itself, with the following functionalties.
- A blog engine (obviously)
- An article engine
- Bookmark List (to other good ajax bloggers)
- Technique Resources (links to other useful atlas tutorials written by others)
- RSS Reader
- A Wiki
All the interface will be ajaxed and I will use all kinds of third party UI widgets and develop cusotm ajaxed widgets in Dojo, as well as Atlas toolkit controls. My intend is to cover every aspects of Atlas, from client script in javascript, xmlscript, integration with third party UI controls to developing Atlas toolkits and more. The best way to learn is to do it and it fits the purpose of "AjaxLab.com" quite nicely.
An ambtious goal, but since it's a learning expereince, I will give myself till the end of this year to complete the above tasks.
