Ten Things That I Hate About Being An Employee

My motivations of working on my own company came from serveral different sources. I envy those who are able to do what they love and making a living of doing what they love, but if I think about the inital thought that sparked my other motivations, then I think it has be the "hatred" I have towards becoming a working person.

I can't say for other industries, but for software industry, these are the ten things I hate about being an employee

  1. The likelyhood of working all your life and be exactly where you are
  2. Change job every few years
  3. No control over your schedule. Your job is your schedule
  4. Pay is never sufficent (if you think $100k-$150k is enough, I beg to differ)
  5. Increasing stress and instability as pay increases.
  6. Great possiblities of working with people you might not like.
  7. Great possibilities of working on things you don't love.
  8. Travel and leisure are limited.
  9. You have to keep learning new skills or you will loose your market
  10. Others control your life, you don't.

I'm not saying that I won't face some of the situations if it were my own company. The issue is when I'm doing what I love, a lot of the "issues" became "no-issues".

Increasingly, it gives you a great sense of control over your own life and that my friend, is priceless.

I'm working hard, and I need to work harder and smarter. Good luck and best wishes to all of you who shares my same sentiment.
